He was born in 2003 and lived in Crystal Lake Illinois his whole life. He went to school at NIU to further his education after getting his associate's degree at McHenry County College. At NIU he worked to develop his skills as a 3D artist, learning various skills that have helped him across multiple mediums. Jacob Larson has done his BFA show at NIU and has participated in a student ran exhibition at Fargo Skateboarding, as well as winning multiple developer ran competitions for an online virtual reality game, called Rec Room, under the alias “Yick”. ARTIST STATEMENT

Jacob Larson creates digital 3D sculptures, textures, and environments for animations and games, in which he strives to capture the same feeling of excitement and joy that he got from the media he grew up consuming. Starting out on a virtual reality video game, Jacob gained experience making small compositions, and environments with in-game tools, and eventually migrated to industry software, like Autodesk Maya, Blender, and Adobe Substance Painter. Taking inspiration from the video games that he plays has helped him to develop a style that is consistent, but flexible.
