Growing up, it was hard for me to find characters that looked like me or stories I could relate to on a deeper level. The few that I could find drove me to make my own. Through illustration and visual development, I use storytelling to process my emotions and life experiences. My work contains pieces of myself, often inspired by the intersections of queerness, Asian-American identity, or Filipino heritage. Whether or not I’m developing concepts and characters outside of my own background, my creative process and research go hand-in-hand. I inject the influence of what I love in the moment: alternative and heavy music, subcultures, comics, and animation. Ultimately, my work will be used in these spheres. I am sincere about what I enjoy in life and the things that I have gone through, so I hope others can feel the same way.
