Lexi Raia

Photography

Lexi Raia is a multimedia artist who primarily works in photography. She explores themes of gender identity, coming of age, environmental reflections of individuals, and girlhood through juxtaposing still-lives and portraiture.

She is influenced by prominent artists such as Justine Kurland and Judy Chicago who collectively explore themes such as adolescence, maternal and platonic relationships and overall being a woman making their way in the art world.

Raia often creates work based on the ‘female’ experience through her own adolescence, relationships, and experiences into metaphoric visual media. Her process often includes found objects, personal writing, and a medley of film and digital work. Her artwork coincides singular and collaged imagery on ideas of what it means to be a woman, and how these experiences are often innately flawed on a universal level.
